Associate Professor Harjinder Singh is an accomplished academic and chartered accountant at Curtin University's School of Accounting, Economics and Finance, within the Faculty of Business and Law. His research focuses on sustainability, ESG credentialling, carbon accounting, and governance. He has held leadership roles, including Discipline Lead and Director of Graduate Research, and currently serves on the Australian Accounting Standards Board’s Climate Research Expert List.
With a decade in public accounting (Deloitte) before academia, Harj has secured over $700,000 in research grants and authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles. His work includes developing Australia’s first Natural Capital Accounting (NCA) framework for the mining sector with CRC TiME. He has received multiple teaching and research awards, including the Higher Degrees by Research Supervisor of the Year (2022).
His engagement spans executive education on carbon accounting, submissions to government regulators (e.g., Treasury, ACCC), and media contributions addressing public finance issues. He leads Curtin’s initiatives in ESG, including indigenization of accounting curricula and One-Curtin collaborations with offshore campuses.
