Julian Inchauspe is a Senior Lecturer at Curtin University's School of Accounting, Economics and Finance, within the Faculty of Business and Law. He holds a PhD in Economics from Macquarie University and degrees in MSc and BSc (Econ). His research focuses on economic theory, mathematical economics, and applied econometrics, particularly analyzing market structures, policy interventions, and energy economics. He teaches Microeconomics, Game Theory, Econometrics, and Energy Economics across multiple campuses.
In leadership roles, he is a member of the Faculty of Business and Law Strategic Review Board (since 2020) and previously served as Economics Honours Coordinator (2014–2018), interim director of the Centre for Research in Applied Economics (2017), and HDR coordinator (2012–2014). He has supervised numerous PhD and honours students in areas like energy policy, environmental economics, and banking sector analysis.
His grants include a $400,000 project on carbon market mechanisms for Vietnam (2022), a $132,515 initiative for gas training in India/Bangladesh (2022), and a $150,000 study on distributed energy business models (2020–2021). He has contributed to over 30 publications on energy policy, fiscal dynamics, and market integration, including work on hydrogen prospects, natural gas markets, and banking competition.
In awards, he received the 2016 Best Paper of the Year (Tulsa University) and the 2010 Excellence in Research (Statistical Society of Australia). His current projects include gender dynamics in African energy transitions and analyzing Australia’s fiscal policy constraints.
