Harish Thampy is a Clinical Professor in Medical Education at the University of Manchester, concurrently serving as a General Practitioner partner. He holds roles as Associate Programme Director and Academic Lead for Assessment for the Manchester MBChB Programme, overseeing assessment design and quality assurance across all five years of the medical curriculum. His research focuses on clinical teacher professional identity, near-peer learning, and clinical reasoning assessments.
Thampy holds a Master of Science from Cardiff University (2012), a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Glasgow (2006), and a Bachelor of Science from the same institution (2004). He has earned prestigious fellowships including the FAcadMEd (2020), FRCGP (2020), and PFHEA (2018), alongside awards like the National Clinical Impact Award (2025) and Cardiff University Dean’s Prize (2011).
His recent publications emphasize innovative assessment methodologies, peer-led educational strategies, and challenges in medical professionalism. He leads the Health Workforce Group project, addressing workforce development and pedagogical innovations in healthcare education.
