Shahid Merali is a Clinical Senior Lecturer and Lead for Primary Care Education at Aston Medical School, part of the College of Health and Life Sciences at Aston University. He holds roles as Clinical Lead for Quality Management and Training Standards at the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and serves as a Curriculum Editor for the RCGP. His clinical background includes serving as a GP Partner and Postgraduate GP Trainer. Merali has earned prestigious awards, including the 2020 Midlands NHS Parliamentary Award for Excellence in Primary Care and the 2022 Martin Wilkinson Award for Innovation in General Practice.

Advising & Grants: Merali oversees over 100 primary care training sites for Aston Medical School and coordinates training standards for RCGP. Current research includes clinical trials as Principal Investigator for the Genes and Health study in the West Midlands.
Labs & Teams: Leads the Primary Care Education department at Aston Medical School and collaborates with RCGP committees to enhance training and quality management systems.
