Hao Zhang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Finance and Accounting at the Saunders College of Business, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He holds a Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a MA/BA from Xiamen University (China). His teaching responsibilities include courses such as Financial Management, Advanced Corporate Finance, and Computational Finance. He currently serves as Program Director for the MS in Finance program.
Dr. Zhang’s research focuses on corporate governance, executive compensation, market microstructure, and tax avoidance strategies. His work has been published in top-tier journals like Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, and Review of Finance. He has held prestigious awards, including RIT’s Eisenhart Award for Outstanding Teaching and multiple Exemplary Teaching Awards from Saunders College.
His professional contributions extend to industry engagement, such as a sabbatical at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a Financial Economist (2016–2017). He actively integrates Bloomberg Terminal tools into curriculum through a Provost’s Learning Innovations Grant. Dr. Zhang’s research emphasizes the interplay between corporate strategies and financial market dynamics, addressing topics like institutional ownership effects, debt covenant design, and the impact of social capital on firm performance.
He advises the MS in Finance program and oversees computational finance initiatives. His work is accessible via Google Scholar.
