Dr. Hans Weigand is an Associate Professor at Tilburg University's Tilburg School of Economics and Management (TiSEM), specifically within the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management. He holds a PhD from VU Amsterdam in linguistic knowledge representation and has been affiliated with Tilburg since 1991. His roles include Academic Director of the Information Management master's program and supervision of PhD students. He has contributed to projects such as the ESPRIT II project SPRITE and NWO-funded initiatives.
Research interests focus on information systems, ontology development (particularly in finance and economics), design science research, blockchain, and process mining. He co-organized workshops on the Language/Action Perspective and Value Modeling/Business Ontologies. His teaching includes courses like AI for Business and Business Process Integration.
Key contributions include work on economic exchange ontologies for financial reporting, design science artifact identification, and event log management for process mining.
