Hannah Wright

Hannah Wright is a Lecturer in Global Politics at the University of Manchester (since 2024). Her research focuses on intersections of feminist theory, postcolonialism, and critical security studies, examining how state violence is perpetuated through gender, race, and class. She holds a PhD in Gender Studies from the London School of Economics (2021) and previously held an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowship at Queen Mary University of London. She has also worked at the LSE Centre for Women, Peace and Security and in policy roles including advising Saferworld on gender and conflict issues.

Research Interests:

• Feminist contestations of militarism and colonial governance
• Counterterrorism as a gendered/racialized state violence modality
• Abolitionist approaches to social justice
• UK national security policymaking and civil service cultures

Teaching: Modules on International Security (POLI71111) and Comparative Political Analysis (POLI60301), with dissertation supervision on gender, race, militarism, and security studies.
