Hannah Spector is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin), holding a role in the First-Year Core Program. They serve as area head for CORE:Time & Tech and are affiliated with the artist collective MASS Gallery. Spector holds an MFA in Printmaking & Transmedia from UT Austin, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to art and poetry.
They have exhibited work nationally at venues like Transformer Gallery (DC), The CAM Perennial (TX), Stoveworks (TN), and Women and Their Work (ATX). Notable residencies include Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (2024), Stoveworks, The Museum of Human Achievement, and MASS Gallery. Their artistic practice explores language as a spatial and material entity, challenging conventional perceptions of the everyday.
Spector’s experimental sound and music projects span multiple releases, including Humidity Sessions (2024), as you listen to an eclipse (2023), and everything ends by coinciding (2020). These works blend electronic music, ambient textures, and poetic performance, reflecting their interest in experimental media and interdisciplinary expression.
They have received recognition for their short films, winning awards at The DUMBO Film Festival and Berlin Shorts Festival. Their contributions to UT Austin’s educational programs and artistic collectives underscore their dual commitment to academia and creative innovation.
