Hannah Fox Dugdale is a Senior Lecturer in Molecular and Cellular Physiology at the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences, Loughborough University. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science (2013) from the University of Bedfordshire and a PhD from Liverpool John Moores University (2017), where she investigated resveratrol's role in muscle atrophy prevention. Post-PhD, she conducted post-doctoral research at the University of Oxford (2017–2019) and King's College London (2019–2022), focusing on neuromuscular disorders, drug development for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and muscle physiology. Her work integrates molecular biology, proteomics, and cellular mechanisms to address muscle dysfunction and disease.
Research Interests:
- Molecular mechanisms of muscle atrophy and hypertrophy
- Neuromuscular disorders, including Duchenne muscular dystrophy and congenital myopathies
- Utrophin modulators and drug target identification
- Effects of nutrition and metabolic stress on muscle health
Her publications span 15 articles, emphasizing utrophin modulation, myosin mutation effects, and muscle pathology in mouse models. Recent work highlights discoveries in myonuclear organization disruptions and myosin head sequestration in genetic myopathies. Her research bridges basic science and translational medicine, with a focus on drug development and disease mechanisms.
Awards: Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
Lab/Team: Member of the Lifestyle for Health and Wellbeing research group, focusing on integrative physiology and molecular approaches to muscle health.
