Hang Shi is Professor of Biology at Georgia State University. His research investigates molecular mechanisms of obesity-related disorders, specializing in epigenetic regulation of macrophage inflammation, adipocyte thermogenesis, and hepatic lipid metabolism. His lab employs epigenetic techniques (ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq), metabolic phenotyping, and transgenic models.
Notable discoveries include DNA methylation's role in macrophage polarization and histone modifications regulating brown fat development. Dr. Shi earned his PhD from the University of Tennessee and completed postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School. He previously held faculty positions at Wake Forest School of Medicine.
