Hamlett Dobbins is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Art and Design at the University of Memphis. He holds a BFA from the University of Memphis and an MFA from the University of Iowa. His career includes teaching roles at institutions like the University of Mississippi, Memphis College of Art, and Rhodes College. Dobbins has curated exhibitions at venues such as Delta Axis @ Marshall Arts and Clough-Hanson Gallery, and his work has been supported by residencies at the Vermont Studio Center and Bemis Center for Contemporary Art.
He has received notable grants including the Pollock Krasner Foundation award and a Rome Prize fellowship at the American Academy in Rome (2013). His professional practice combines art education, curatorial work, and artistic exhibition across regional and national platforms.
