His academic career includes positions at Fırat University as Assistant Professor (1995-present) and Research Assistant (1988-1995).
Education includes a PhD in Physical Geography from Fırat University (1995), an MSc in Physical Geography from the same institution (1990), and a BA in Geography from Atatürk University (1983).
Research focuses on climatology, hydrography, and geospatial analysis with applications in environmental modeling, risk assessment, and landform evolution. His work integrates Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for terrain analysis and hydrological studies.
Publications demonstrate expertise in geomorphological mapping, climate impact studies, and watershed management, with recent emphasis on climate change adaptation and drought monitoring. Research frequently employs spatial analysis and field validation.
Significant projects include:
- Agricultural drought monitoring using remote sensing (2025-2027)
- Geomorphological mapping of urban areas (2012-2015)
- Groundwater modeling in closed basins (2011-2013)
Has supervised 20 graduate students in geography and geosciences, with topics spanning landslide risk, hydrological modeling, and GIS applications. Manages research teams for field data collection and spatial analysis.
