Haley Farthing is an Associate Professor of Practice in Drawing and 2D Foundations at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIU Carbondale). She has been part of the SIU faculty since 2012 and previously taught at the Elliot School of Fine and Applied Arts in Boston and the Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle. Her research focuses on environmental relationships through drawing, exploring visual contrasts, subtle aesthetic experiences, and personal impact on the environment. She exhibits nationally and investigates themes like flatness vs. form, wood grain vs. drawn image, and light vs. dark.

- BFA in Painting and BA in Art History, Boston University (2007)
Teaching Experience: Courses include 2D foundations, intermediate painting, bookmaking, and all levels of drawing.
