Haimanti Banerjee is a Lecturer in Bengali at the University of Pennsylvania and serves as the Associate Director of Language and Culture Programs at the Joseph H. Lauder Institute of Management & International Studies. Since joining Penn in 1995, she has taught Bengali, Hindi, and English as a Second Language while coordinating nine language programs and summer immersion initiatives.

- Specializes in language pedagogy, focusing on assessment and materials development
Her research interests center on pedagogical methodologies for South Asian languages and ESL instruction. She has secured prestigious grants including the International Research and Studies grant and STARTALK grant, and received Penn’s Staff Incentive Award for her contributions.
