Hadziioannou Georges

Georges Hadziioannou is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Bordeaux since 2009, holding the Arkema/Aquitaine Chair in Advanced Functional Materials. Previously, he served as Professor at the University Louis Pasteur (Strasbourg) and the University of Groningen (Netherlands), where he directed the Materials Science Centre. He has held leadership roles, including Director of the European Engineering School of Chemistry, Polymers and Materials (ECPM) and Deputy Director of ECPM.

Research Interests: His work focuses on semi-conducting polymers, nanostructured materials, polymer materials for data storage, and plastic/molecular electronics. He pioneered methodologies in surface science, nanotribology, and polymer dynamics, bridging molecular structure and material properties.

Advising & Impact: Directed 39 PhD students and hosted over 50 post-docs. Holds 18 patents and co-founded two startups: Polymer Service Center and Papyron. Served on editorial and scientific boards, including ChemPhysChem and FORTH's scientific committee.

Labs & Initiatives: Spearheaded the Materials Science Centre (Netherlands), recognized as a national excellence center, and led the "Photoalloys" project under his Institut Universitaire de France chair.
