Gilles Guichard

Gilles Guichard is a CNRS Research Director at the University of Bordeaux, affiliated with the Chimie et Biologie des Membranes et Nanoobjets (CBMN) laboratory. He has been with the University of Bordeaux since 2009, initially as a Group Leader at the Institut Européen de Chimie et de Biologie (IECB) and then as a Research Director.

His educational background includes:

• PhD from University Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg (1996)
• Post-doctoral research at ETH Zürich (1997)

Guichard's research focuses on biomimetic chemistry of peptides, foldamer research, self-assembly and biomolecular recognition, multivalent display, and the design of bioactive molecules derived from peptides and amino acids. His work bridges chemistry and biology, aiming to develop novel therapeutic strategies through the understanding of molecular interactions and the creation of peptide-based structures.

His notable awards include:

• ATIP career development Award from CNRS INC, France (2009)
• Chair from the Aquitaine Regional Council, France (2009)
• CNRS Bronze Medal (2001)

Guichard has held leadership roles, including serving as president of the Groupe Français des Peptides et des Protéines (GFPP) from 2007 to 2009. He is also a co-founder of two biotechnology companies, ImmuPharma and UREkA Sarl, which focus on drug discovery and development for serious medical conditions.
