Hadi Alagha is an Honorary Research Fellow at Imperial College London's Department of Surgery & Cancer and a Senior Teaching Fellow at the Institute of Global Health Innovation. He holds affiliations with the Data Science Institute, Centre for Health Policy, Institute of Global Health Innovation, MSk Lab, and Patient Safety Translational Research Centre. A Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, he also serves as a Visiting Senior Fellow at the London School of Economics Data Science Institute.
His education includes a medical degree from the University of Debrecen (summa cum laude), an MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine from the University of Nottingham, and a Master's in Education from the University of Dundee. He completed his PhD at Imperial College London under Professors Jonathan Jeffers and Justin Cobb, supported by the Imperial College President’s PhD Scholarship.
Research focuses on optimizing patient safety via AI, big data, and medical education. Key projects include predicting adverse outcomes in joint replacements with the Swedish Hip Registry and developing NLP/ML tools at Harvard-MIT. His pedagogical work advances virtual mentorship strategies in medical training and explores challenges in graduate-entry medicine.
Notable awards include the AI in Orthopaedics Poster Prize (ORUK), Tech Nation Global Talent endorsement, and multiple scholarships from Imperial College and the University of Debrecen. His teaching roles span Imperial College’s medical education programs and past roles at the University of Debrecen.
He supervises BSc students in Surgical Design and has advised on studies blending biomechanics with patient safety. His work bridges clinical practice, education, and technology to advance healthcare outcomes globally.
