Simon Harris

Simon Harris is a Researcher in the Department of Surgery & Cancer at Imperial College London, affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine. His work bridges biomedical engineering, robotics, and orthopaedic surgery.

Education:

• BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Hull University (1986)
• MSc in Medical Electronics and Physics from St. Bartholomew's Hospital (1988)
• PhD in computer-controlled CCD scanning equipment for eye imaging (1992)

Research Interests:
Simon focuses on image-guided surgical planning, 3D data segmentation, and robotic navigation systems for orthopaedics. His interdisciplinary work spans biomedical engineering, clinical sciences, mechanical and electrical engineering, AI/image processing, and human movement analysis. He has advanced surgical robotics through systems like Probot and Acrobot.

Grants & Affiliations:
His research has been funded by SERC, EPSRC, and the Wellcome Trust. A co-founder of Acrobot Ltd. (1999–2010), he now collaborates with the MSk Lab under Professor Justin Cobb at Imperial College London.
