Dr. HaEun Lee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Systems, Populations and Leadership at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. She holds affiliations with the African Studies Center and focuses on improving health equity in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), particularly through empowering women and engaging communities in healthcare systems. Her work spans Uganda, Zambia, Liberia, and Nigeria, with over a decade of field experience.
Dr. Lee earned her PhD from the University of Michigan (2021) and BSN from Calvin University (2016). Her research emphasizes maternal and child health, reproductive health, and community-based interventions. She has received awards including the Gateways 21st Century Nursing Fellowship and Early Career Professional Scholarship from APHA.
Her scholarship addresses innovative solutions like mobile health systems (MORES) and Savings and Internal Lending Communities (SILCs), aiming to reduce maternal mortality and enhance financial preparedness for childbirth. Teaching includes global health and gender equity topics, with mentorship leading to peer-reviewed publications. Her grants include the Center for Global Health Equity Challenge Group and African Studies Center projects.
