Gwo Ching Wang is the Travelstead Institute Chair Professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Department of Physics, Applied Physics & Astronomy. A leading authority in materials physics, he specializes in nanoscale materials characterization and epitaxial growth techniques. His research focuses on developing advanced thin-film and 2D materials for next-generation electronic and energy applications.
Research interests include:
- Growth and characterization of 2D materials, thin films, and nanostructures
- RHEED surface pole figure analysis for texture evolution studies
- Azimuthal RHEED for structural mapping of graphene and 2D materials
- Van der Waals epitaxy techniques for advanced electronic materials
- Development of flexible optoelectronic devices and solar cells
His recent publications demonstrate significant advances in epitaxial growth techniques for ruthenium nanowires, antimony selenide photovoltaics, and perovskite nanomembranes. Work frequently appears in high-impact journals including Nature, ACS Nano, and Advanced Functional Materials.
