Gu Min

Dr. Gu Min is a Clinical Associate Professor in Orthodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry, The University of Hong Kong. She serves in the Department of Paediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics and has been actively contributing to orthodontic research and education. Her clinical and research expertise focuses on craniofacial orthopedics with special emphasis on airway analysis and pediatric sleep-disordered breathing.

Dr. Gu holds multiple advanced degrees including BDS (Wuhan), MDS (Orth) (Sichuan), AdvDipOrth (HK), MOrth RCSEd, PhD (HK), and FDS RCSEd. Her educational background demonstrates strong foundation in both clinical dentistry and research methodology.

Her primary research interests center around orthodontic treatment of pediatric sleep disordered breathing, 3D technology-assisted orthodontic diagnosis and treatment, and craniofacial regeneration. She has pioneered work in upper airway analysis using advanced imaging techniques and has published extensively on facial asymmetry assessment and digital orthodontics applications. Her research bridges the gap between traditional orthodontics and modern digital technologies, with particular focus on how craniofacial morphology relates to airway function.

Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong trend toward 3D imaging applications in orthodontics, with increasing focus on airway analysis in relation to sleep-disordered breathing, facial asymmetry quantification, and digital workflow development. Her work demonstrates consistent progression from basic cephalometric analysis to advanced 3D imaging techniques and their clinical applications.

Dr. Gu has been principal investigator and co-investigator on multiple research grants, including General Research Fund projects on AI-assisted orthodontic-orthognathic surgery planning and 3D tooth tracking. She serves on several professional committees including the Committee on the Use of Live Animals in Teaching and Research at HKU. Her knowledge exchange activities include numerous media appearances where she discusses orthodontic treatments and their relationship with children's sleep disorders.

As an active member of the European Orthodontic Society, World Federation of Orthodontics, and The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Dr. Gu maintains strong international connections in her field. She also serves as a trainer for Specialty Boards in both Paediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics for The College of Dental Surgeons of Hong Kong.
