Greta Bushnell

Greta Bushnell is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology, Rutgers School of Public Health, and a core member of PETS. She joined Rutgers in 2020. Her work focuses on studying pharmaceutical treatments for mental illnesses in youth, emphasizing drug safety, effectiveness, and clinical policy implications.

Education: PhD and MSPH in Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (specializing in pharmacoepidemiology), followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in Psychiatric Epidemiology at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health.

Research interests include psychiatric and pediatric pharmacoepidemiology, substance use disorders, and improving treatment outcomes for young patients. Recent work emphasizes benzodiazepine safety in youth. Her research has been published in high-impact journals like JAMA Psychiatry and Pediatrics and is supported by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH).

As a core member of PETS, she collaborates on translational research to bridge clinical practice and public health policy.
