Jennifer L. Lund

Jennifer L. Lund, PhD, is a Professor of Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Gillings School of Global Public Health. She holds leadership roles as Director of Data Strategy and Education at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center's Cancer Information and Population Health Resource (CIPHR). Her research focuses on pharmacoepidemiology, health services research, and geriatric oncology, with an emphasis on improving healthcare delivery and outcomes for older adults and cancer patients.

Education: BA in Quantitative Economics/International Relations from Tufts University (2003), MSPH and PhD in Epidemiology from UNC-Chapel Hill (2009, 2011). She serves on editorial boards for Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety, Epidemiology, and Journal of Geriatric Oncology, and is a Fellow of the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE).

Her research program integrates clinical trials, healthcare databases, and environmental data to evaluate treatment effectiveness, safety, and accessibility. Key areas include cancer screening, medication adherence, and the impact of environmental exposures on health outcomes. Dr. Lund leads the Lund Research Group, mentoring students and postdoctoral fellows in pharmacoepidemiology and aging research.

Awards include the ISPE Fellowship (2021), Young Investigator Award Finalist (2019), and the Gordon H. DeFriese Award (2015). She has published extensively in journals such as JAMA Oncology, Journal of Geriatric Oncology, and Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety.

Dr. Lund collaborates with the Sheps Center for Health Services Research and Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, leveraging large datasets like SEER-Medicare and MarketScan®. Her work emphasizes translating research into policy and clinical practice to improve healthcare decision-making for vulnerable populations.
