Gregory Callaghan is an Assistant Professor of Classics at Union College. His research focuses on the history of Archaic/Classical Greece, Hellenistic Aegean, and Roman Republic, with emphasis on interstate relations, memory studies, and digital humanities. He co-directs the Polis Sites and Sightlines digital humanities project, using drone technology for ancient environment reconstructions.
Education: B.A. Latin (2014, College of William & Mary); Ph.D. Ancient History (2020, University of Pennsylvania).
Teaching includes Greek/Roman history, Greek sanctuaries, ancient economy, race in antiquity, and digital humanities. Current research examines Attalid dynasty of Pergamon, applying social network analysis and international relations theory to study status hierarchies and institutional memory.
