Professor Graham Mann is the Director of the John Curtin School of Medical Research at the Australian National University (ANU) and a Principal Investigator at the Melanoma Institute Australia (University of Sydney). He leads a translational research program focused on melanoma, including genetic risk factors, environmental influences, and molecular markers for diagnosis and treatment. His work involves NHMRC Program grants and collaborations with the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC).
Education: MBBS, PhD, FRACP.
Research interests span melanoma genomics, cancer epidemiology, and translational oncology. Key projects include the Australian Melanoma Genome Project, structural variation studies in Indigenous populations, and genomic risk prediction tools. Recent work emphasizes proteomic and multi-omic approaches for cancer subtyping and treatment response prediction.
Publications focus on melanoma prognosis, biomarker discovery, and clinical trial outcomes. Notable achievements include $9.4M in grants (2019), an h-index of 47, and over 8,500 citations. Awards include multiple NSW Premier’s Awards for translational cancer research and the J A Young Medal.
Current projects include Indigenous genomics initiatives (e.g., Sewerage Surveillance for SARS-CoV-2) and clinical outcome registries like MelCOR. Collaborates globally via InterMEL and ICGC networks.
