Professor Graeme Austin is a legal scholar at the Melbourne Law School (University of Melbourne), holding the rank of Professor since 2011. Previously, he served as a tenured professor at the University of Arizona. His expertise spans intellectual property law, international law, and human rights, with a focus on cross-border enforcement mechanisms. He holds advanced degrees including an LLM and JSD from Columbia Law School, alongside degrees from Victoria University of Wellington.
Research interests include the intersection of human rights and intellectual property, as evidenced by his co-authored book *Human Rights and Intellectual Property: Mapping the Global Interface* (2011). He advises the ALI’s project on cross-border IP rights enforcement and delivered the prestigious Hercel Smith Lecture in 2010. Professional roles include membership at the New Zealand Bar and prior experience as a solicitor at Chapman Tripp.
