Dr. Glynis George is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at the University of Windsor. Her research focuses on migrant agricultural workers, immigrant settlement, community-based methodologies, and cultural practices. She holds a PhD, MA, and BA in Sociology.
Her work examines the social inclusion and exclusion dynamics faced by temporary migrant farmworkers in Ontario, emphasizing health, labor rights, and community support systems. Recent projects include the Partnered Research Evaluating Services with Migrants in Agriculture (PRESMA), a SSHRC-funded initiative analyzing support services for migrant workers across Ontario.
Dr. George’s research integrates qualitative and narrative methodologies, with a growing interest in arts-based approaches. She has published widely in journals such as Qualitative Health Research and Journal of International Migration and Integration, addressing themes like pandemic vulnerabilities, transnational labor strains, and belonging among temporary migrants.
Her grants include SSHRC Partnership Development funding (2022–2025) and Mitacs awards for community-engaged projects. She actively contributes to initiatives like the Windsor-Essex Immigration Partnership Council, advocating for inclusive policies and community integration strategies.
