Dr. Glen Donnar is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Media and Communication at RMIT University. His research focuses on screen representations of men and masculinities, stardom, celebrity, and popular culture, with a particular emphasis on post-9/11 American cinema and Asian media. He is the author of Troubling Masculinities: Terror, Gender, and Monstrous Others in American Film Post-9/11 (2020) and co-editor of Asian Celebrity Cultures in the Digital Age (2025). His work bridges cultural studies, cinema studies, and gender studies.
Dr. Donnar has received multiple awards, including the 2023 Dean’s Award for Leadership and the 2022 Recognition of Outstanding Contribution. He is an active member of scholarly organizations such as the Society for Cinema and Media Studies and the Australian Film Critics Association. His teaching emphasizes student-centered approaches, including innovations in assessment design for international and domestic students.

- Supervision: Overseeing 7 current and completed PhD projects, including studies on Saudi film industry reputation, esports education, and internalized misogyny in creative writing.
His applied research on healthier masculinities has informed government campaigns, such as the Victorian Government’s 2016-17 water safety initiative targeting older males. He collaborates with industry partners like The Man Cave and Respect RMIT.
