Professor Adam Knee serves as Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Media & Creative Industries at LASALLE College of the Arts. He holds a PhD in Cinema Studies from New York University (USA), an MA from the same university, and a BA Honours in English, Film & Video Studies from the University of Michigan (USA). A leading scholar in Southeast Asian cinema, his research explores contemporary Southeast Asian cinema, race, gender, stardom, and genre in American popular film.
He has held academic leadership roles, including Head of the School of International Communications at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (2013–2017) and roles at Nanyang Technological University and Ohio University. His editorial roles include co-editing the Palgrave Series in Asia and Pacific Studies and serving on the boards of Celebrity Studies and Plaridel.
Professor Knee’s awards include the Fulbright Award and International Institute for Asian Studies Fellowship. His work spans over 20 years, with publications on topics from Thai cultural icons to post-9/11 Hollywood films. He frequently presents at international conferences, focusing on transnational cinema and cultural representation.
