Gina Atzeni

Dr. Gina Atzeni is a sociologist affiliated with Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) and currently serves as Acting Professor for Theory Formation and Social Cohesion at the University of Münster. She holds a PhD in Sociology (2015) and has been a research associate at LMU since 2011. Her work focuses on medical professionalism, ethics in healthcare, and sociological theory, particularly Max Weber’s legacy. She has organized major academic events like the Munich Theory Talks and served on ethics committees, including the LMU Medical Faculty Ethics Committee since 2019. Her research explores professional narratives, interprofessional collaboration in healthcare, and the societal role of religious discourse in bioethics.

Recent Contributions: Her 2022 work on Max Weber’s theory of action and gender debates in theology exemplify her interdisciplinary approach. She also co-authored influential studies on interprofessional healthcare collaboration (2020) and ethics committees (2015–2018).
