Professor Verina Wild is Professor of Medical Ethics at the University of Augsburg's Medical Faculty, where she has held her position since November 2020 and has served as Director of the Institute for Ethics and History of Health in Society (IEHHS) since 2023. With a background in clinical medicine, she brings practical healthcare experience to her academic work in medical ethics.
Her research focuses on Medical Ethics, Bioethics, Public Health Ethics, and Global Health Ethics, with particular emphasis on vulnerability/marginalization, health justice theories, environmental health ethics, and digital health technologies. Professor Wild has developed significant expertise in how climate change intersects with health ethics, making this a central application area of her current research.
Professor Wild has an extensive publication record with strong recent output, particularly in climate and health ethics, mHealth ethics, and health inequalities. Her work consistently addresses issues of justice, vulnerability, and marginalization across various health contexts. In 2021, she co-authored the book 'Health Inequalities - From Data to Action' with Andreas Mielck, which received the Thomas Lampert Prize in 2024.

Her leadership extends to multiple national and international roles, including as Associate Editor of the Journal Public Health Ethics and as a member of WHO committees addressing ethics in climate change and health.
Her Institute for Ethics and History of Health in Society serves as a hub for interdisciplinary research that bridges medical practice, ethical analysis, and policy development, with particular attention to emerging challenges in environmental health and digital health technologies.
