Gillian Baer

Dr. Gillian Baer is a Senior Lecturer at Queen Margaret University (QMU) within the Dietetics, Nutrition & Biological Sciences, Physiotherapy, Podiatry & Radiography Division. Her research focuses on stroke rehabilitation and neurological conditions, with a particular emphasis on improving mobility and community-based interventions. She has led grant-funded projects on stroke survivors' exercise perspectives and needs assessment for MS carers. Her clinical background spans the UK and Canada, with expertise in neurological physiotherapy. Dr. Baer is a member of the Centre for Health, Exercise and Rehabilitation Research (CHEARR) and holds roles in academic leadership, including Subject Lead for the Professional Doctorate in Health and Social Sciences and leadership in postgraduate education. She actively participates in national physiotherapy organizations and has served as an external examiner for multiple programs.

Education & Qualifications: PhD, MSc in Rehabilitation Studies, MCSP (Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy).

Grants & Projects: Includes studies on mobility milestones in stroke, home-based physiotherapy, and treadmill training. Current projects explore community-based exercise for stroke survivors and familial needs in MS care.
