Gill Rawlinson

Dr Gill Rawlinson serves as Director of the Allied and Public Health Directorate within the School of Health and Society at the University of Salford, where she is a key member of the School's executive leadership team overseeing six subject areas: Diagnostic Radiography, Occupational Therapy, Podiatry, Prosthetics and Orthotics, Public Health, and Physiotherapy. A qualified physiotherapist since 1997, she maintains extensive clinical experience in musculoskeletal practice and higher education leadership.

Her research program centers on allied health professional workforce development, behaviour change using the COM-B model, and adherence in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. She actively investigates public health service innovation, curriculum design, diversity and inclusion in healthcare education, and qualitative research methodologies with emphasis on collaborative online international learning.

Dr Rawlinson's recent 2024 publication on Interprofessional Training Care Home placements demonstrates her commitment to integrating physiotherapy learners into care settings through structured support systems and interprofessional collaboration frameworks.

Her scientific recognition includes Principal Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. She also led an award-winning public health service redesign at Salford Royal NHS Trust that embedded NHS health checks and diabetes screening within musculoskeletal physiotherapy services.

As an active PhD supervisor, Dr Rawlinson leverages her national leadership experience from a two-year Health Education England AHP fellowship where she directed workforce development projects. She directs the Allied and Public Health Directorate to advance interdisciplinary collaboration across health disciplines while driving service improvement initiatives.
