Giacinta Cestone is a Professor of Finance and Director of the PhD Programme in Finance at Bayes Business School, University of London. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Toulouse, France. Her research focuses on corporate finance, labor economics, and industrial organization, with emphasis on internal capital markets, venture capital syndication, and stakeholder interactions. She has held academic positions at Queen Mary University of London and the University of Salerno, and fellowships including the Ramon y Cajal and Marie Curie.
Key research contributions include the deep-pocket effect of internal capital markets, the role of internal labor markets in responding to shocks, and venture capital contract design. Her work has been published in top journals like the Review of Economic Studies and Journal of Financial Economics. Awards include the Finance and Sustainability European Research Award (2008) and recognition from the EARIE Young Economists' Competition (2000).
She advises the European Commission’s Economic Advisory Group on Competition Policy and is a Research Associate at the European Corporate Governance Institute. Her recent projects explore antitrust scrutiny’s impact on stakeholder trade-offs and the interplay between internal labor and capital markets in corporate groups, supported by grants from the Axa Research Fund and Leverhulme Trust.
