Specializing in Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) research, Dr. Spitz investigates the biological, psychological, and social mechanisms underlying persistent cognitive, emotional, and behavioral disturbances post-injury. His work addresses the long-term pathological evolution of TBI and develops precision interventions for rehabilitation. Key methodologies include Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), neuropsychological assessment, and translational animal models.
Recent research spans neurotrauma biomarkers in sports and forensic neuroscience applications for intimate partner violence-related brain injury. His group has pioneered novel TBI intervention strategies and explored gut-brain axis modulation in neurorecovery.
