Gerry Melino is a full-time Professor of Biochemistry at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Rome Tor Vergata, and has served as Director of the Department of Experimental Medicine and Surgery since 2008. He has held prominent academic roles globally, including Programme Grant leadership at the Medical Research Council (MRC) Toxicology Unit in Cambridge, UK, and advisory/supervisory roles at institutions such as the Saint Petersburg Institute of Technology and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research focuses on programmed cell death, intersecting biochemistry, molecular biology, neuroscience, and cancer research.
