Prof. Dr. Gero Kunter is a faculty member at the University of Siegen's Faculty I: English Studies, holding the position of Professor of English Linguistics. He leads the Linguistics I department and specializes in corpus linguistics, phonetic implementation, and morphological processing. His research includes projects funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) focusing on language variation and processing complexity.
Education: PhD in English Linguistics (2009, University of Siegen). Previous roles include assistant professorships at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (2015–2018) and the University of Siegen (2010–2012). He has also held lectureships at the University of Siegen (2004–2010) and Philipps University of Marburg (2003–2004).
Research interests span empirical studies of English linguistics, statistical language modeling, and corpus tools like CoQuery. Current projects include 'Morphological Embedding and Phonetic Reduction' (DFG-associated) and 'Processing Complexity in English Analytic/Synthetic Forms' (DFG KU 2896/1-1). He advises doctoral students and oversees final module examinations in the Master's in Teaching program.
