Gerhard Hammerschmid is a Professor of Public and Financial Management at the Hertie School, where he also served as Founding Director of the Centre for Digital Governance (2019–2023). His expertise spans public management reform, comparative public administration, and the impact of digitalization on government. He leads the Institut für den öffentlichen Sektor and coordinates EU-funded projects like COCOPS, EUPACK, and TROPICO, focusing on public sector innovation.
