Georgina Drew

Dr. Georgina Drew is an Associate Professor in the School of Social Sciences at the University of Adelaide, Australia. Her research focuses on environmental anthropology, resource management, and gender equity in water systems across South Asia and Australia. She leads major projects funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC), including a Discovery Project on hydrosocial adaptations to water risk in Australian agriculture, and contributes to marine restoration studies via an ARC Linkage grant. She also serves as Gender Advisor for an ACIAR project in the Eastern Gangetic Plains.

Her work integrates cultural politics, religious ecology, and decolonial perspectives to address water inequity and resource conflicts. Key research interests include:

• Hydrosocial dynamics and climate adaptation
• Gendered dimensions of resource access
• Marine and agricultural restoration policies
• Decentralized water governance models

Awarded prestigious fellowships including the Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) and National Science Foundation Methods Workshop Award, she has authored over 40 papers on topics ranging from Himalayan glaciology to urban water justice. She collaborates with interdisciplinary teams at the University of Adelaide’s Water Research Centre, Environment Institute, and Fay Gale Centre for Gender Research.
