Michael Fabinyi is a Professor at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), leading the Climate, Society and Environment Research Centre. He holds adjunct roles at Palawan State University (Philippines) and ANU's Crawford School of Public Policy. His research focuses on coastal livelihoods, marine resource governance, and food security, with extensive work in the Philippines since 2005. Key projects include coral reef restoration (funded by DFAT), sandfish mariculture (ACIAR), and small-scale fisheries governance (ARC). Fabinyi's work bridges social sciences and environmental policy, emphasizing participatory approaches and equitable resource management. He has authored over 90 publications and secured numerous grants from entities like ACIAR and the ARC.
