Georgia Pike-Rowney

Dr Georgia Pike-Rowney is a Friends' Lecturer and Curator at the ANU Classics Museum, affiliated with the School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics and the Centre for Classical Studies. She holds a PhD from ANU (2017), a Graduate Diploma in Education from Monash University (2009), and a BA in Law and Classical Studies from ANU (2006). Her research bridges classical studies, museum ethics, music in health/wellbeing, and transdisciplinary pedagogy. Key projects include the ARTefacts initiative and the International Network for Musical Care, focusing on communal singing for dementia patients and mental health peer work. She co-directs the Music Engagement Program (MEP) and has led collaborative repatriation projects with Italian authorities.

Research interests emphasize museum ethics, classical artifact engagement, and music’s role in healthcare. Her work on interwar Australian community singing and Alzheimer’s outreach demonstrates her commitment to interdisciplinary solutions. She received the 2016 Children’s Week Award for disability-inclusive music programs at Cranleigh School.

Her publications explore topics like Pelagian-Augustinian debates’ relevance to music education and repatriation ethics in museum collections. Current roles include co-investigator on the CHIME Australia project, addressing perinatal mental health through social singing.
