Dr Sarah Harrison is an Assistant Professorial Research Fellow in the Department of Government at the London School of Economics (LSE) and a Visiting Fellow at the ANU Centre for European Studies. She holds dual affiliations, combining research at LSE with collaborative work in Australia. Her primary role at LSE involves advancing electoral psychology research through the Electoral Psychology Observatory, which she co-leads as Deputy Director.
Her research focuses on electoral behavior, youth political engagement, and democratic frustration, with contributions to journals like Nature Human Behaviour and American Behavioral Scientist. Notable works include co-editing Youth Participation in Democratic Life (2015) and the upcoming Inside the Mind of a Voter (Princeton UP, 2020).
Awards include recognition from the ESRC, APSA’s Political Psychology Section, and the Market Research Society’s Best International Research Award for her collaborative electoral psychology work. Her research bridges psychological insights with electoral systems, exploring how voter emotions and polling environments shape democratic outcomes.
Dr Harrison actively collaborates through initiatives like ECREP (Electoral Psychology Observatory) and contributes to policy-relevant projects such as the Algorithmic Futures Policy Lab at ANU. Her interdisciplinary approach integrates behavioral science with electoral design, addressing contemporary challenges in democratic participation.
