Dr. Sarah Harrison is an Assistant Professorial Research Fellow in the Department of Government at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and Deputy Director of the Electoral Psychology Observatory. Her work focuses on electoral psychology, democratic frustration, political participation, and youth politics. She is the editor of a forthcoming special issue of Societies on 'Electoral Psychology' and co-author of Inside the Mind of a Voter (Princeton University Press).
Her research explores how citizens' psychological states, such as frustration and hope, shape electoral behavior. She has conducted comparative studies across the US, UK, Australia, and South Africa, analyzing the behavioral consequences of democratic dissatisfaction. Her work bridges political science, sociology, and cognitive psychology, emphasizing empirical methodologies to understand voter decision-making and institutional trust.
Key projects include mapping the dynamics of democratic frustration and its manifestations in withdrawal, anger, and aggression among voters. She collaborates internationally on electoral behavior studies and contributes to public discourse on youth political engagement and Brexit's societal impacts.
