George John is the General Mills-Paul S. Gerot Chair in Marketing and a full Professor at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. Previously, he served on the faculty at the University of Wisconsin. He holds a BTech in Aeronautical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, an MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a PhD in Marketing from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.
His research examines governance structures in industrial markets, with emphases on:
- Distribution channel efficiency and conflict resolution
- Technology commercialization and intellectual property strategies
- Sales force compensation design through field experiments
- Retailer-supplier dynamics in omnichannel environments
John's publications demonstrate consistent focus on empirical investigations of market mechanisms, with recent methodological shifts toward large-scale field experiments. His work frequently intersects industrial organization economics and behavioral theory.
