Geoffrey Tanner is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology & Neurobiology at the University of Connecticut. His research focuses on the intersection of diet and neurological diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s, epilepsy, and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).
- Education: M.A.L.S., Wesleyan University; Ph.D., Harvard University.
The (ND)2 laboratory led by Tanner investigates how caloric restriction and ketogenic diets may prevent or alleviate neuropathological conditions using Drosophila melanogaster as a model. Techniques include genetics, biochemistry, pharmacology, anatomical studies, and behavioral assays to identify molecular mediators and potential drug targets.
