Geneviève Rousselière is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Duke University. She holds a PhD in Politics from Princeton University and prior academic appointments as Collegiate Assistant Professor and Harper-Schmidt Fellow at the University of Chicago, and Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research focuses on modern and contemporary political philosophy, social theory, the history of political economy, feminism, republicanism, and democratic thought. She examines how individuals can achieve freedom amid economic, social, racial, and gender inequality.
Her first book, *Sharing Freedom: Republicanism and Exclusion in Revolutionary France* (2024), critiques French republicanism’s historical development and its theoretical challenges. Her second manuscript, *The Politics of Self-Destruction: Rousseau on Political Economy*, analyzes Rousseau’s critique of capitalist mechanisms and his proposals for democratic theory. She has published in journals like the *American Journal of Political Science*, *European Journal of Political Theory*, and *European Journal of Philosophy*.
Rousselière’s academic background includes a BA and MA in philosophy from the University of Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne, an *agrégation de philosophie*, and studies at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris. Her work bridges historical and contemporary political thought, emphasizing theoretical rigor and societal relevance.
