Gemma Standen is an Associate Tutor in the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of East Anglia. She serves as the Widening Participation Officer for Mature Students within Admissions, Recruitment & Marketing, focusing on supporting pathways into higher education for mature learners. Her work emphasizes collaboration with further education colleges and community initiatives to address systemic barriers in education access.
Education background includes a Bachelor of Arts (Film and Television Studies, 2009) and a Master of Research in Social Science Research Methods (2024) from UEA, alongside a Doctor of Philosophy from the School of Education & Lifelong Learning (2024). Her research explores psychological, sociological, and political factors influencing mature and commuting students' progression in higher education, with a focus on policy implications for lifelong learning.
