Anna Blackett is a Lecturer in Education and holds multiple leadership roles at the University of East Anglia, including Widening Participation Academic Lead, Director of Employability, and Deputy Senior Adviser in the School of Education & Lifelong Learning. She joined UEA in 2021 with extensive experience in education spanning primary teaching in the UK, Singapore, and international roles in teacher training and curriculum development. Her work emphasizes employability skills integration, social mobility, and supporting marginalized student groups.
Education: BA (Hons) Education (QTS) from Brunel University, and a Master’s degree informed by her research on Higher Education perceptions.
Research Focus: Priorities include widening participation, disability support (particularly hidden disabilities), and fostering student belonging. Projects include the ‘Good Higher Education Project’ and evaluations of Norwich and Ipswich Opportunity Areas. Collaborations include Libraries Connected and AdvanceHE.
Achievements: Fellowship of Advance HE, leadership in the Make It Count outreach program, and presentations at conferences like NERUPI.
Advisory & Outreach: Oversees student advising processes, curriculum development, and initiatives like ‘Preparing for SSF’ and IntoUNIVERSITY mentorship. Organized educational trips to global pedagogical hubs like Reggio Emilia and Berlin.
Labs/Teams: Engaged in cross-faculty research with Libraries Connected and leading Aurora research on Gypsy, Roma, Traveller (GRT) student experiences.
