Natalie Forster is a Research Fellow in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at Northumbria University and a member of Fuse (The Centre for Translational Research in Public Health). Her work bridges sociology and public health, focusing on marginalized groups' health experiences and service innovations to address health inequities. She employs narrative methodologies, creative methods, and realist evaluation in her research.
Dr. Forster holds a PhD, PGCert, and BA (Hons). Her research emphasizes Traveller Communities' health narratives, welfare advice impacts, and healthcare access disparities. She teaches on Northumbria's Master of Public Health program and supervises doctoral students exploring topics like socioeconomic deprivation and Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller (GRT) perspectives in education.
Her publications analyze outreach programs, energy advice inequities, and the role of lay health advisers. Recent work addresses GRT students' higher education challenges and stigma faced by marginalized groups. Natalie advocates for systemic advocacy and culturally sensitive policies to improve health and educational outcomes for excluded populations.
