Vanessa Lingham is a Lecturer in Costume at the Guildhall School, specializing in performance costume within the BA (Hons) Production Arts programme. She is currently a doctoral candidate researching ethical costume representation of Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller (GRT) communities in stage and screen productions. Her work addresses cultural sensitivity, material ethics, and the balance between artistic expression and cultural appropriation under production constraints.

Research interests focus on respectful engagement with cultures outside the designer’s own, emphasizing care in handling cultural narratives and material objects.
